Dingle Weekend (Oct. 18 – 20, 2019)

I went to the Dingle Peninsula for the weekend with the UCC mountaineering club. We drove out Friday night after classes, making it to the hostel late. About 35 of us were on the trip, and we had the entire hostel to ourselves. After a group dinner and a few drinks, we were in bed for the hike the next morning.

Saturday we hiked Mount Brandon. The weather was rather rough for the hike up. It was raining pretty hard for the few hours it took to get to the top, and the fog rolled in for a while. Right after we reached the top and stopped for lunch the clouds cleared and we had an absolutely beautiful view for the entire hike down.

After the hike, we went back to the hostel for some food and fun. We spent the evening playing card games and jamming out on the guitar and ukulele.

Sunday we packed up and left the hostel, and then spent the morning in Dingle. We walked around and got some ice cream from Murphy’s and ate it by the quay.

After Dingle, we spent a few hours at Inch Beach, collecting sea shells and building sand castles before we had to head back home to Cork. All in all, the weekend was absolutely wonderful. Lots of time spent outside and with friends, seeing more and more of Ireland.
